‘Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’ confirmed for Xbox Game Pass

It launches on the subscription service in time for the season five update

Microsoft has confirmed that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is coming to the subscription-based Xbox Game Pass service.

Activision Blizzard’s long-running, first-person shooter franchise was a major talking point during Microsoft’s acquisition of the company, which was eventually approved in October 2023. Since then, fans have been speculating about when Call Of Duty would launch on Xbox Game Pass.

There were rumours about a “secret celebration drop” in the weeks after the acquisition went through that never materialised while earlier this month, reports suggested that 2023’s Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 would be coming to Game Pass towards the end of July.

Microsoft has now confirmed those reports were true, with Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launching on Xbox Game Pass today (Wednesday, 24 July).

“All the classic maps from the original Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) make their return, but with new gameplay improvements that players have become accustomed to over the years. This, in addition to the large-scale Invasion and Ground War maps and four seasons’ worth of post-launch maps and updates, means that you’ll be getting an incredible amount of content right from the jump,” read a post on Xbox Wire. “There’s never been a better time to hop into the fray!”

The release coincides with the season five update for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which also launches today. The new update brings with it a collab with WWE, a host of new maps and the latest chapter in the ongoing Zombies mode.
